Attention all bell ringers and choir singers! Choir rehearsal for our Christmas program begins Sunday, September 7th. Sandra and Shirsten have already put together an exciting new line-up of music – a Negro spiritual, a ladies' piece, a new benediction, a favorite from the past, and much more. Join us as we play and sing through the selections and get a feel for what we'll be doing this fall. We always welcome new performers, even if you are new to bells or choir. Rehearsals are held in the choir room.
This year's "Lessons & Carols" will be performed on Sunday, December 14th.

For twenty-five years, Sandra and Jerry Clements have filled a vital role as ministers of music. Every Sunday morning, you can hear Sandra’s powerful piano talent filling the sanctuary before and during the worship service. Jerry often leads congregational singing for Sunday services and many other church events.
Both are instrumental (no pun intended!) in leading CBC’s seasonal choir as well. Sandra, as pianist, assists choir director Shirsten Dreyer in organizing and leading seasonal choir performances. Shirsten has served as CBC’s choir director for seven years. Jerry sings and fills in as director, if needed. |

Christmas: “Nine Lessons & Carols” – Starting rehearsals in September, CBC choir members prepare for the annual Christmas concert, called “Nine Lessons & Carols.” Patterned after a format established by King’s College in Cambridge, this concert celebrates Christmas by telling the story of humanity, the promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus through nine Scripture readings, interspersed with Christmas anthems and carols.
Easter: “Tenebrae” – Starting in January, choir members rehearse sacred songs for a Good Friday service called “Tenebrae.” This special “service of darkening” focuses on the approaching death of Christ on the Cross. Candles are extinguished one by one after each song and Scripture reading and lighting dims gradually throughout the service. Finally the service ends in total darkness, signifying Christ’s death and His departure as the Light of the world. The concert is performed on Good Friday.
Shirsten also leads a hand bell choir, which performs during both concerts.
New choir and hand bell members are always welcome, and need not be CBC members to participate. In fact, several regular choir members join us from local churches. Reading music is helpful, but not required. We encourage you to give us a try! Our concerts always draw big crowds and rave reviews. While watching is wonderful, singing and performing the meaningful music brings its own rewards for choir members. A time of prayer, led by choir president Mike McClure, ends every rehearsal. Sub sandwiches and other treats are served on occasion!
