CBC offers a comprehensive men’s Bible study called “Men of the Word.” Led by senior pastor Dr. Doug McIntosh, this non-denominational, in-depth Bible study starts bright and early at 6:30 a.m. and ends promptly at 7:30 a.m.
The Minor Prophets tell the story of discipline, an approach that is carried on with individuals as well as kingdoms, but which often results in human pain and disappointment. The undercurrent in these books, however, is always one of hope. Behind the near-term failures and disasters lies God's ultimate purpose for Israel, Judah, and the human race. In the end, God will accomplish His goal not just to make us happy, but to vindicate His character in the process. The universe will leap for joy. Its Creator will be freely and sincerely adored, His creatures will be bonded to Him by their choice as well as His, and no threats will exist. The Minor Prophets (and their colleagues) are irrepressibly optimistic, for their God is sovereign. He will make it happen, and it will be worth the wait.
